You can read our full admission policy here. The admissions deadline for September 2027 entry is January 12th 2027.

Applications for September 2027

1. Apply

Applications open on 5 October 2026. To apply, complete the online application form and submit your predicted GCSE grades by the published deadline.

Applicants whose predicted grades meet the minimum entry requirements set out in our Admissions Policy will be considered for the next stage of the admissions process.

2. Aptitude Test

Eligible applicants will be invited to sit the Cambridge Maths School Aptitude Test in early February.

The test is designed to assess mathematical thinking and problem-solving ability rather than the depth of mathematical knowledge. Following the test, applicants will be assessed against the school’s published admissions criteria.

3. Academic Interview

Applicants who perform strongly in the aptitude test and meet the requirements set out in the Admissions Policy will be invited to attend an academic interview.

During the interview, applicants will work through a mathematical problem with a teacher and discuss their interest in studying at Cambridge Maths School.

4. Provisional Offer

Following the aptitude test and interview process, successful applicants may be made a provisional offer of a place.

To secure a place, students must achieve the published entry requirements, including:

  • At least seven GCSEs at grade 5 or above

  • GCSE English Language at grade 5 or above
  • GCSE Combined Science at 8-8 or above, or grade 8 or above in the separate science subject they wish to study

5. Confirmation of Place

Places will be confirmed following GCSE results day once we have verified that the published entry requirements have been met.

We encourage you to familiarise yourself with the specimen paper before the aptitude test.

Our admissions test for September 2027 entry will take place on Saturday 6th February 2027.

  • Please note: Student scripts from the Aptitude Test will be kept for 3 months from when offers are made and at least until the end of June of that academic year.

Aptitude Test Preparation Workshop will take place :
