Year 10 GEM Summer School

Applications will open at 4pm on Friday the 13th of February

At Cambridge Maths School, when we say mathematics is for everyone, we mean it! The Girls Enjoy Maths (GEM) Summer School is a three-day course based at Cambridge Maths School in June and July 2026.  We will unite 60 female year 10 students as they explore the wonderful world of the mathematical sciences, providing an opportunity to nurture resilience and confidence in their mathematical ability.

Over the course of the three days, you will explore exciting mathematical ideas, complete fun experiments, take an inspiring trip to the University of Cambridge, and listen to female speakers in the field. Activities will be designed to provide challenge and opportunities for collaboration. You will work together to share and build on each other’s ideas, developing your mathematical communication and reasoning, as well as enhancing your problem-solving skills.

You will also explore how mathematics is applied within other STEM subjects (Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Computer Science), then gain insight into the applications of mathematics post-16, at university and beyond.

The summer school is completely free, lunch will be provided, and financial support can be given for anyone who might struggle with travel expenses.
